a poem
“Suddenly confident “ is exactly how I’ve been thinking about myself since I began writing my Substack. Huh.
Right back atcha! I love that people I don't know think my writing doesn't suck...
I like that. I like it a lot. <3
Beautiful
"if you stopped listening to the world
telling you to become something you are not"
My favorite!
I will never understand why unconventional/intermittent capitalization makes a poem more moving. But it does.
“Imagine the great big storm of you brings relief to those you love.” That line stuck to me. I’m always aware of how other people/places/things bring me relief, to think I may do that for others is like a big hug. I have always loved rain.
I could barely get past the first stanza. Time slowed down reading that one. Thank you Paul.
"...like the great big storm of you brings relief to those you love"
Now would be a good time to tell the people who love you how much relief they rain unto your life, so they don't need to only imagine.
Wow, Paul, my favorite line you wrote is this: "If you no longer listened to advertisements, or advice, or your own learned apathy."
This is something I've been reflecting on a lot lately. You hit upon something prescient here. Thank you.
Great thoughts to gift to yourself. Thank you
"... and instead listened to the longing of your heart in the early morning rain, which sounds something like content."
How beautiful is that?
So many strong and good things to imagine. Thank you!
