While walking my dog yesterday, I literally thought to myself “why do those mf-ers in power use so many words to say so little? And so harmful?” (Yes, I use ‘mf-er’ when talking to myself.)
This reminded me of a comedian (whose name escapes me) who provided four rules to get along with your family/housemates during the 2020 shelter-in-place order:
Not all men .Tose men repeat themselves. Boring and outrageous. The men I listen to are caregivers, were aids activists writing theIr stories, puzzled men, men who believe in other kinds of lives lived on different planes. And some of the women, many of the women I know and read and love, have voices dripping with rage, myself included. Just wanted to mention these other voices. I know you already know all this.
I learned many years ago that their talk is not to communicate but to disorient. You are in their grasp while you are listening, analyzing, debunking, and refuting their arguments. They are not talking to you; they are using you.

Happy Friday to you as well!

Rule #1: Shut up.
Rule #2: Shut up.
Rule #3: Shut up.
Rule #4: Shut up.
Still trying to abide by all four rules.
I love this, Paul.
Thanks, Dina. I really admire your work, so this means extra much <3

Raising boys is hard. Trying not to be part of the problem.
Very well covered, man, and appreciated!
